Beacon TradePort

April 3, 2011 · Development of Regional Impact

The Beacon TradePort is a commercial, mixed use development, located in Miami-Dade County in the northeast quadrant of the new interchange of the Homestead Extension of the Florida Turnpike and NW 12 Street. As an approved DRI, it includes the Dolphin Mall, 3.4 million square feet of industrial warehousing space, 125,000 square feet of office, 1,300 movie theater seats, and a 125 room hotel.

DPA’s initial role was the main coordinator of a team of design and legal professionals that prepared and processed the DRI.  This included all the technical analyses, the Application for Development Approval, and the necessary local, regional and state approvals through a multitude of agencies.

In addition to the team coordination efforts, DPA was responsible for the civil engineering work and all transportation-related analyses.  Following approval, DPA prepared the technical analyses to justify and secure approval of a new interchange through the Turnpike Interchange Justification Report (TIJR).
