Babcock Ranch Community
September 26, 2011 · Development of Regional ImpactDPA has been the traffic consultant to the Babcock Ranch Community since 2005. The Babcock Ranch Community is a planned new town of approximately 20,000 acres, located in southeast Charlotte County. DPA’s services, in addition to general concept and strategic planning, have included the preparation and processing of the Babcock Ranch Community: Charlotte County Comprehensive Plan Amendment; Lee County Comprehensive Plan Amendment; Master DRI; and the Increment 1 DRI.
DPA prepared the transportation studies in support of the Babcock Ranch Community Application for Master Development Approval (AMDA). The Master DRI identifies the anticipated mobility needs in the region, coincident with the buildout of the Babcock Ranch Community. The future mobility needs identified in the Master DRI will assist the MPO Long Range Transportation Plan efforts in both Charlotte and Lee County. The Master DRI was then followed by the first incremental development application. The AIDA traffic analysis, prepared by DPA, included off-site roadway and intersection improvement recommendations associated with the development of Increment 1 – Phase 1 of the new town.
