Boca Raton Transit Feasibility and Funding Study

May 3, 2011 · Transit / Pedestrian / Bicycle Planning

The objective of this study, prepared by DPA, was to assess the feasibility and potential funding of an interconnecting shuttle system for the city of Boca Raton.  The system would serve, but not be limited to:  Florida Atlantic University; Boca Raton Community Hospital; Downtown; North Boca Village; Boca Resort and Club; NCCI / Beacon Square; Boca Town Center; Boca Center; T-Rex Corporate Center; and Arvida Park of Commerce. The study included developing routes, identifying transit vehicle requirements, defining transit operational characteristics, evaluating management options, estimating costs, developing fare structures, estimating potential ridership, and recommending a financially feasible funding plan. The study also identified steps for the city to implement and fund the interconnecting shuttle system.  The city started a shuttle system in 2010.
