Brickell Avenue Pedestrian and Bicycle Study

October 3, 2011 · Transit / Pedestrian / Bicycle Planning

DPA was retained by the city of Miami to conduct a pedestrian and bicycle study along Brickell Avenue from the Miami River to the Rickenbacker Causeway.  The purpose of the study was to evaluate the bicycle / pedestrian conflicts along the Brickell Avenue sidewalks, conduct a survey of bicyclists using Brickell Avenue, and to evaluate alternate bike routes in the area.

Observations were conducted along the Brickell Avenue sidewalks to document potential conflicts between bicyclists and pedestrians and / or between bicyclists and vehicles.  The sidewalks were also surveyed for possible impediments that could potentially cause pedestrian / bicycle / auto conflicts.  A bicycle origin / destination (O/D) survey was also conducted.
