Downtown Boca Raton has undergone tremendous change and redevelopment within the past few years. Because of this, the city hired DPA to undertake a comprehensive parking study to reanalyze the existing parking requirements and investigate new strategies to meet both the short-term and long-term parking needs of the downtown area.

The study included:  detailed parking inventories of all downtown parking spaces; parking requirements and rate research and evaluations; peak season parking demand and projections; and parking strategies to meet future demand.

Strategies and recommendation to meet the future parking demand and local needs included the following.

• Creation of a parking trust fund.
• Construction of additional off-street public parking facilities.
• Modifications of the office parking requirements.
• Promotion of shared parking between businesses.
• Expansion of on-street parking supply.
• Consolidation of valet services.
• Expansion and enforcement of short-term parking locations.
