Germain Arena Traffic Studies

April 27, 2011 · Traffic Operations

Germain Arena, home of the Florida Everblades, a professional hockey team playing in the ECHL, is a sports complex located at Corkscrew Road and I-75 in Lee County. The sports complex includes a 7,500 seat arena for minor league professional hockey and special events, two ice skating rinks open to the general public, and an ancillary support restaurant.

To accommodate the arena, an approved mixed use DRI had to be amended, the property rezoned, and a local development order obtained. DPA assisted the owner with the successful processing of these requests, including the negotiation of the project’s proportionate share of needed road improvements and traffic mitigation conditions.

In addition to the traffic support during the DRI and rezoning process, DPA also assisted the owners with the concept planning for the arena. DPA also prepared the Special Events Traffic Plan for the arena. This plan included recommendations on:  police assisted traffic control; traffic circulation; bus access / egress; VIP parking, pedestrian circulation; internal traffic control; emergency vehicle access; stalled vehicle assistance; and taxi / limousine.
