Port of Miami 2035 Master Plan

October 24, 2011 · Transportation Planning

The Port of Miami 2035 Master Plan, prepared by DPA for the Miami-Dade County Seaport Department, was intended to provide guidance and direction during the expansion of the cruise and cargo terminals and implementation of the proposed new office development in the southwest portion of Dodge Island.

The objective of the traffic analysis component of the Master Plan was to assess the potential impacts of the proposed expansion of the Port of Miami on the adjacent roadways.  The traffic impacts were determined based on: the projection of over 6.1 million total passengers in 2035 (an increase of almost 50%); an increase in cargo to almost 2.7 million twenty-four equivalents (TEU) in 2035 (an increase of over 300%); and a proposed office development on the west end of the island up to 600,000 square feet.
