DPA prepared alignment studies, geometric concepts, and roadway plans for the construction of Sandy Lane (Via Coconut Point) in South Lee County, from Williams Road to Pelican Colony Boulevard and to US 41. The design consisted of 2.5 miles of a four lane divided roadway with median openings for access to the Coconut Point Mall and a signalized intersection at Coconut Road.  Also included in the plans was a roundabout at Williams Road.  The ultimate recommendation for a roundabout, rather than a standard four-legged intersection, was a direct result of the evaluation of the implications of the roadway improvement on the railroad crossing at Williams Road.
