SR 82 Corridor Master Traffic Study

September 27, 2011 · Transportation Planning

DPA prepared the SR 82 Corridor Master Traffic Study to develop and implement a methodology for assessing proportionate share contributions for the costs of widening SR 82 to six lanes between Michigan Avenue and Lee Boulevard in the city of Fort Myers. This project involved 17 developments, as well as the city, the county and the state.

DPA estimated the cumulative traffic volumes on each SR 82 segment and the traffic contributed by each of the 17 developments. The costs of the needed improvements were then estimated and the proportionate share of the costs to be paid by each development established. This formed the basis for inter-local agreements between the property owners, the city, the county and the state, and allowed this critical improvement to be advanced into the FDOT’s five-year work program.
