Since December, 2003, DPA has had the pleasure of serving as one of the city of Fort Myers’ engineering consultants.  Under that contract, DPA assisted the city on many very interesting and important projects, including engineering and design services for two roundabouts within the city.

The roundabout design services at West First Street / Altamont Avenue and McGregor Boulevard / Virginia Avenue were undertaken in support of the high rise developments along West First Street and First Street Village, a multiphase residential and office development over a four city block area. DPA prepared the design of the new street alignment including two roundabouts, pedestrian pathways, street lighting, drainage, grading and specifications. This project is connected to the Edison Avenue re-alignment project and will complement the surrounding area.

Alternatives evaluation, geometric concepts, and final design services were provided to the city of Fort Myers.  This project involved the evaluation of alternative concepts to minimize right-of-way, property impacts, and takings; the evaluation of alternative access management plans; and impacts on a historic and environmentally sensitive roadway.
