DPA was retained by the village of Pinecrest to develop a Safe Route to School (SRTS) program for five schools within the village limits.  The program provides funds to municipalities to substantially improve the ability of students to walk and bicycle to school safely.

As part of this project, DPA conducted an extensive data collection effort that included information on roadway and pedestrian facilities, traffic control devices, land use and pedestrian crashes.  Safe routes were developed and evaluated for each school.  Cost estimates were prepared for the recommended improvements.  A funding application was also prepared for each individual school to secure funding for the implementation of the Safe Route program.
